The majority of our spaces are private studios, with the ARQtists pursuing their own craft at their own pace.
We regularly have spaces available for short term rentals for specific projects (currently Taproot & Acorn). Please reach out if you think your seasonal project could benefit from happening at ARQ!
Certain studios/ARQtists promote classes and opportunities for engagement throughout the year. These currently include the Straffan Forge Knife Collective, AJGglass, and FLX Mushrooms.
Not all ARQtists are available to take on students.
ARQ’s ten work studios are a hub of activity in the middle of sprawling agricultural fields, with the bulk of work-only and residential studios in the former chicken barn and former agricultural outbuildings. The ARQ Barn has a utilitarian concrete floored basement the has been sub-divided into five distinct studios (Cattail, Milkweed, Mullein, Black Oak, Raspberry). It includes a large shared common space so ARQtists can utilize the expansive industrial space for occasional bigger-scale projects. Trade skills and artistic explorations ranging from carpentry and sculptural woodwork to oil painting, jewelry making, porcelain work, motorcycle repair, installation event art, drum making, and glass carving have all found homes here throughout the years.
All our spaces at ARQ are named for cultivated and wild plants that share the land with us at ARQ. Each space name was chosen by the current ARQtist in the space in 2024.
